English as a Second Language (ESL)
Program Details
In addition to opening up education, employment, and immigration opportunities, being able to speak English helps students to communicate with people and get acquainted with diverse cultures and lifestyles. ESL stands for English as a second language. It is normally taught to students whose primary language is not English with the goal of improving their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. ESL courses are designed to equip students and workers with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for their future studies and careers.
ESL courses are divided into three categories at Ontario College of Technology (OCOT).
- General English (GE) courses
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) preparation courses
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses
Students will learn written and oral English skills, critical thinking skills, essay writing, time management, and oral presentation in these courses. Our ESL classes are group-based and students can interact with other students and their instructor via presentations, dialogues, and group work. Students will also have access to tutoring services and education, immigration, and career counseling after achieving their English proficiency. Our ESL specialists will help you find the best program for you.
